CALL OF THE WILD

Cinemavixion Review

"Call of the Wild" offers a heartwarming, albeit familiar, tale of a young girl's bond with an animal in the rugged Montana landscape. Director Richard Gabai crafts a narrative centered on Ryann Hale, played with youthful earnestness by Ariel Gade, as she navigates her initial disdain for a small town, only to find connection through an injured wild dog, Buck. The film's strength lies in the developing relationship between Ryann and Buck, a bond that forms the emotional core. Christopher Lloyd and Wes Studi provide seasoned support, adding depth to the small-town setting. While the plot touches upon themes of courage and the call of nature, it ultimately aims for a family-friendly adventure, culminating in a dog sledding race that tests Ryann and Buck's mettle. It's a charming story that, despite its modest box office, resonates with classic tales of friendship and the wild.
