CALIFORNIA DREAMING

Cinemavixion Review

John D. Hancock's 1979 film "California Dreaming" offers a gentle exploration of a young man's summer of self-discovery in the Golden State. T.T., arriving from the more structured environment of Chicago, gradually sheds his inhibitions and embraces the laid-back Californian lifestyle. The film delicately navigates themes of love and life lessons, portraying a transformative period for its protagonist. While perhaps not a landmark cinematic achievement, "California Dreaming" serves as a charming, nostalgic snapshot of a specific era and the universal experience of growing up and finding oneself amidst new surroundings. Its understated narrative and focus on character development make it a pleasant, if modest, viewing experience.
