CAGED

Cinemavixion Review

Stephan Brenninkmeijer's 'Caged' plunges viewers into a stark, claustrophobic narrative that explores the consequences of unchecked hedonism. The film centers on Stella, whose indulgent lifestyle leads her to a grim confinement. Within the confines of a basement cell, she encounters another woman, prompting a profound introspection on the circumstances that led to their shared captivity. Brenninkmeijer masterfully crafts an atmosphere of psychological tension, utilizing the confined setting to amplify the characters' internal struggles. Chantal Demming and Babette Holtmann deliver compelling performances, embodying the desperation and vulnerability of their situations. This is a thought-provoking piece that uses its grim premise to question societal norms and personal choices, leaving the audience to ponder the true nature of freedom and consequence.
