BUTTERFLY KISSES

Cinemavixion Review

Erik Kristopher Myers's 'Butterfly Kisses' is a meta-cinematic exploration that delves into the unsettling nature of found footage and urban legends. The film centers on a filmmaker who stumbles upon a series of disturbing video tapes created by two students. These tapes document their chilling project centered around a local horror icon known as The Peeping Tom. As the filmmaker becomes increasingly obsessed with proving the legend's authenticity and reinterpreting it as his own cinematic endeavor, he and his crew find themselves drawn into a disorienting spiral, blurring the lines between reality and the terrifying narrative they are trying to capture. Garnering a remarkable 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, 'Butterfly Kisses' is praised for its innovative approach to horror, offering a thought-provoking commentary on the creative process and the seductive power of folklore. Its mystery and horror elements, combined with a compelling narrative structure, make it a standout for those seeking a more cerebral scare.
