BUTCHERS

Cinemavixion Review

Adrian Langley's "Butchers" plunges viewers into a chilling tale of familial depravity set against a stark, unforgiving wilderness. Released in 2020, the film centers on the Watson brothers, Owen and Oswald, whose isolated existence in the backcountry becomes a hunting ground for unsuspecting strangers. Drawing comparisons to the brutal simplicity of "The Hills Have Eyes," this slasher eschews complex narratives for a visceral exploration of violence and twisted desires. While the film received a modest 33% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.6/10 on IMDb, its stark portrayal of isolated horror and the unrepentant cruelty of its antagonists have resonated with a niche audience seeking raw, unadulterated scares. "Butchers" offers a grim, effective descent into a dark realm where survival is a luxury few can afford.
