BUSTER KEATON: THE NAVIGATOR

Cinemavixion Review

Buster Keaton's "The Navigator" offers a charmingly absurd premise: two pampered individuals find themselves adrift on a colossal, deserted ocean liner. The film masterfully leverages its unique setting, transforming the vast ship into a playground for Keaton's signature physical comedy and ingenious problem-solving. As the protagonists navigate their predicament with limited resources and escalating silliness, Keaton's deadpan performance anchors the escalating chaos with understated brilliance. This silent-era gem is a testament to Keaton's comedic genius, showcasing his ability to craft elaborate gags and compelling narratives within seemingly simple scenarios. It's a delightful exploration of resourcefulness and unlikely survival, proving that even in the grandest of isolation, human ingenuity (and a good dose of slapstick) can prevail.
