BUILDING AND DELIVERING A LUXURY FLOATING HOME ALONG 70 MILES OF DUTCH CANALS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a fascinating glimpse into an ambitious engineering feat: the construction and transportation of luxurious floating homes. The narrative centers on Wim Jelsma and Carin Koning's dream of establishing a unique waterborne community, following the intricate process from the pouring of robust concrete foundations to the delicate attachment of upper floors. The film highlights the considerable challenges involved, particularly the perilous 70-mile journey across Dutch waterways. Under the command of tugboat captain Peter Bokschoten, the seven floating mansions navigate treacherous conditions, including ice flows and the risk of collisions with large vessels. The climax involves the precarious hoisting of these homes onto trucks for a cross-country haul, a testament to meticulous planning and expert execution. It's a compelling watch that explores themes of innovation, perseverance, and the pursuit of an unconventional lifestyle, leaving viewers to ponder whether the ultimate destination will be reached without disaster.
