Alex Simmons' directorial debut, "Buddymoon," is a charmingly unconventional comedy that leverages the genuine chemistry between its leads, David Giuntoli and Flula Borg. Originally conceived as a personal project by the trio of Simmons, Giuntoli, and Borg, the film blossoms into a surprisingly engaging road trip narrative. Left at the altar, Giuntoli's character is whisked away on his planned honeymoon by his irrepressibly optimistic best man, played with infectious energy by Borg. Their journey through the scenic Oregon mountains becomes a test of friendship, punctuated by encounters with a quirky cast of characters, including a conspiracy theorist and an alluring backpacker, and even a literal wolf. The film cleverly frames their modern-day bonding with historical echoes from William Clark's expedition diaries, adding a layer of depth to the exploration of male camaraderie.
