BRITISH ROYALS & NATIONAL SOCIALISM

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into a controversial and often unsettling aspect of 20th-century history, examining the purported sympathies of the British royal family and aristocracy towards National Socialism. The film, released in 2018, posits a compelling, albeit disturbing, narrative suggesting that figures like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor may have harbored inclinations towards Hitler's regime. Director Andrea Oster utilizes recently surfaced photographs and archival footage to construct a case, particularly focusing on the period around 1940. The narrative centers on the abdicated King Edward VIII and his American wife, Wallis Simpson, exploring their alleged desire for a return to power and potential dalliances with Nazi sympathizers. While the film presents intriguing visual evidence, it raises profound questions about loyalty, power, and the complex political landscape of the era, inviting viewers to critically assess the historical accounts presented.
