BRIAN SEWELL'S GRAND TOUR

Cinemavixion Review

Brian Sewell's 'Grand Tour' offers a captivating exploration of Italy's rich artistic heritage through the eyes of Britain's most distinctive art critic. This documentary series, spanning a journey into both historical landscapes and personal reminiscence, revisits the traditional 'Grand Tour' that once shaped the education of the well-to-do. Sewell's unique perspective, blending erudition with a famously acerbic wit, transforms the familiar into the extraordinary. The series excels in its ability to connect the enduring beauty of Ancient and Renaissance Italy with Sewell's own fifty-year-old memories, creating a narrative that is as much about self-discovery as it is about art history. It's a journey marked by intellectual depth, poignant reflection, and the characteristic charm that made Brian Sewell a beloved, if sometimes controversial, cultural figure.
