BREAKUP MOUNTAIN

Cinemavixion Review

Joe Leone's "Breakup Mountain" offers a tense and unexpected twist on the traditional relationship drama, morphing into a survival thriller. The film centers on Ben and Yasmina, a couple whose long-standing, on-again, off-again relationship has finally reached its breaking point. Their plan to amicably part ways during a secluded cabin getaway takes a dark turn with the arrival of a mysterious and violent stranger. What begins as a final, somber attempt to sever ties quickly escalates into a desperate fight for survival. With a runtime of 84 minutes, the film efficiently builds suspense, leveraging its isolated setting to amplify the sense of dread. The performances by Vincent Kevin Daniels and Jade Haley anchor the narrative, portraying the complex emotions of a couple on the brink, while Joe Leone himself steps in to deliver a memorable turn. Although specific box office figures and critical reception details are sparse, the film has garnered some attention, evidenced by its IMDb rating of 7.4/10 and a few award nominations, suggesting a solid reception among its audience. "Breakup Mountain" is a compelling watch for those who appreciate thrillers that blend character-driven conflict with high-stakes peril.
