BORN TO KILL? AUSTRALIA'S WORST SOLO SERIAL KILLER

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the dark psyche of Ivan Milat, often dubbed Australia's worst solo serial killer. It meticulously reconstructs the terror he inflicted upon backpackers in the Australian wilderness between 1989 and 1992, crimes for which he received a life sentence for seven murders. The film critically examines the age-old question: was Milat inherently evil, or were his upbringing and personal struggles the catalysts for his descent into atrocity? Through compelling interviews with his family, a criminal psychologist, his former boss, an anthropologist, a criminal profiler, police, the prosecuting attorney, and authors, the documentary offers a multi-faceted perspective on the man and the myth, seeking to understand the origins of such profound violence within the Australian context.
