BOOST

Cinemavixion Review

Darren Curtis's 'Boost' masterfully navigates the complexities of immigrant life in Montreal through the eyes of two young friends, Hakeem and A-Mac. Portrayed with compelling authenticity by Nabil Rajo and Jahmil French, their bond as surrogate brothers forms the emotional core of the narrative. The film adeptly captures the universal awkwardness and burgeoning independence of teenage boyhood, juxtaposed against the harsh realities of their environment, where 'spotting' cars after school is a means of survival. The narrative takes a sharp, poignant turn, signaling an abrupt end to their innocence. While the film may not boast widespread accolades, its intimate portrayal of friendship and resilience in the face of adversity offers a powerful and resonant cinematic experience, supported by a solid 6.3 IMDb rating.
