BODKIN RAS

Cinemavixion Review

Kaweh Modiri's "Bodkin Ras" is a compelling and enigmatic mystery thriller that skillfully blurs the lines between fiction and documentary. Set in the seemingly tranquil town of Forres, the arrival of a mysterious foreigner, Bodkin, disrupts the quietude, exposing underlying tensions and intriguing the local populace. The film, which has garnered multiple awards at international film festivals, masterfully weaves a narrative that is both exciting and deeply humanistic. Its exploration of an individual's existential quest for a fresh start and a place to belong is rendered with a raw authenticity that makes it a hazard to both the protagonist and his surroundings. The performances, particularly from Sohrab Bayat, Eddie Paton, and Lily Szramko, anchor the film's atmospheric tension. With a runtime of 79 minutes, "Bodkin Ras" offers a thought-provoking cinematic experience that lingers long after the credits roll, showcasing Modiri's distinctive directorial voice.
