BLOOD 13

Cinemavixion Review

Candy Li's "Blood 13" (2018) plunges viewers into the grim underbelly of a serial murder investigation that spans over a decade. The film meticulously details the uncanny similarities between a series of homicides, tasking a young, tenacious female detective with cracking the cold case. Drawing parallels to the seasoned detective's long pursuit of the killer, the narrative takes a personal turn as the protagonist resolves to use herself as bait. This daring strategy not only heightens the suspense but also serves as a catalyst for her own internal journey, as she confronts past traumas that resonate with the murderer's own psyche. Anchored by strong performances, particularly from Lu Huang, Gang Xie, and Bo Qian, "Blood 13" is a taut crime thriller that explores the psychological depths of both the hunter and the hunted, making it a compelling watch for fans of the genre.
