BLAST

Cinemavixion Review

Albert Pyun's "Blast" delivers a potent dose of '90s action, anchored by a stoic performance from Linden Ashby as a janitor thrust into extraordinary circumstances. Ashby embodies Jack Bryant, a former Tae Kwon Do champion whose life has taken a downturn, only to find himself the last line of defense against a ruthless terrorist cell targeting athletes at an international event. The film gains significant gravitas with the inclusion of the legendary Rutger Hauer, whose presence elevates the narrative beyond a standard action flick. While the plot may tread familiar ground, the direct, no-nonsense approach to the action sequences, combined with the committed performances, makes "Blast" a solid entry for fans of the genre. It’s a testament to the era’s direct-to-video action cinema, offering a compelling, if straightforward, thrill ride.
