BIGGER THAN THE GAME

Cinemavixion Review

Janaya Black's "Bigger Than the Game" plunges viewers into the intense world of AAU basketball, chronicling Coach Dylan Baxter's relentless pursuit of a national championship with the Michigan Warriors. The film masterfully captures the immense pressure and dedication required not just from the players, but especially from the coach, who pushes himself and his team to the absolute limit. With a runtime of 136 minutes, the narrative allows for a deep exploration of the sacrifices and emotional toll that elite sports demand. The performances, particularly from the Adams family and Bacari Alexander, anchor the film, bringing a raw authenticity to the characters' struggles and triumphs. While the film may not boast major awards, its compelling portrayal of ambition and the intricate dynamics of coaching makes it a worthy watch for sports drama enthusiasts, offering a poignant look at what it truly means to be 'bigger than the game'.
