BETWEEN SINS

Cinemavixion Review

Carlos Miller's "Between Sins" (2022) presents a compelling narrative of redemption and the arduous journey back to one's moral compass. The film centers on Coy, a man determined to leave his past behind after a five-year prison sentence. His return home is immediately fraught with challenges, as he must navigate the complexities of caring for his ailing mother and stepping into the role of a father to an estranged daughter. The film's core conflict arises with the reappearance of Pudda, an old friend intent on resuming their former street life, forcing Coy to confront the true test of his commitment to a righteous path. While the film delves into themes of faith and second chances, its strength lies in its grounded portrayal of everyday struggles and the enduring power of personal resolve against ingrained habits and societal pressures. George A. Taylor, Rigoberto Duval, and Carolyn Johnson deliver performances that anchor the emotional weight of this introspective drama.
