BENEATH THE HELMET

Cinemavixion Review

Wayne Kopping's "Beneath the Helmet" offers a poignant and intimate look at the transformative journey of five young Israelis as they transition from high school graduates to soldiers defending their nation. This documentary doesn't shy away from the rigors of military training, but its true strength lies in its exploration of how this intense experience shapes the core values and identities of its subjects. More than just a chronicle of military service, it's a compelling coming-of-age narrative that resonates universally, highlighting the personal growth and self-discovery that arises from profound commitment. The film, released in 2014, is a testament to the resilience and spirit of its protagonists, making it a valuable watch for those interested in personal narratives set against a backdrop of national duty.
