BEN TURPIN: A CLEVER DUMMY

Cinemavixion Review

This silent comedy, 'Ben Turpin: A Clever Dummy,' unfolds a charming tale of invention, romance, and mistaken identity. The narrative centers on Samuel Tinker, a dummy inventor, and his partner Peter Clay, who create a lifelike automaton. Their creation, modeled after a building janitor, inadvertently becomes the catalyst for romantic entanglements and comedic chaos. The janitor, harboring feelings for Tinker's daughter and seeing an opportunity in the fractured partnership, plots to impersonate the dummy. This masquerade, extending even after the dummy is sold to a vaudeville company, leads to a series of unpredictable and humorous consequences as the 'dummy with a mind of its own' causes a stir. The film promises a delightful exploration of how a simple misunderstanding and a clever disguise can lead to delightful mayhem.
