BEHIND THE BULLET

Cinemavixion Review

Heidi Yewman's "Behind the Bullet" offers a profound and often harrowing exploration into the often-overlooked aftermath of gun violence: the shooter's experience. Moving beyond the immediate tragedy, the documentary delves into the emotional, psychological, and spiritual toll that pulling a trigger exacts. Through the intimate testimonies of four individuals, the film provides a powerful, nuanced perspective on the irreversible consequences of violence. It challenges viewers to confront the complex moral injuries and conflicting emotions that persist long after the event, serving as a critical, albeit difficult, addition to the discourse on gun violence in America. Despite a modest IMDb rating of 4.5/10, the film's courageous approach to an uncomfortable subject matter makes it a significant piece of documentary filmmaking.
