BEHIND A MASQUERADE OF RHYMES

Cinemavixion Review

"Behind A Masquerade Of Rhymes" delves into the intricate landscape of healing a fractured heart, offering a poignant narrative anchored by Jesse Collins' resilient wit, a defense mechanism honed in solitude. The film skillfully introduces Calvin, a best friend whose well-intentioned meddling serves as a catalyst for Jesse's re-engagement with life. The serendipitous encounter with Hannah at a local poetry program unfurls a tender connection, posing the central question of whether this new bond can inspire Jesse to embrace healing and move forward. Directed by Laura Henderson and Sarah MacLean, this feature masterfully navigates the complexities of friendship, testing its limits while ultimately rewriting lives and loves with surprising and resonant conclusions. The performances, particularly from Mary Kay Allbee, Chloe Ammond, and Ellen Bennett, imbue the story with genuine emotion, making for a compelling exploration of vulnerability and the unexpected paths to recovery.
