BEFORE I GO

Cinemavixion Review

Eric Schaeffer's "Before I Go" offers a poignant yet humorous exploration of life's detours and the search for meaning, centered around a washed-up one-hit wonder navigating the vibrant chaos of New York City. Starring Annabella Sciorra in a role that delves into the complexities of regret and redemption, the film also features notable performances from Robert Klein and Willie Garson. While the local data omits the year of release, external sources place it in 2021, a year that saw the film garner a nomination. The narrative unfolds as a quest, not just through the city's landscape, but through the protagonist's own past choices and the lingering questions of what might have been. Schaeffer, who also penned the script, crafts a story that resonates with relatable struggles, blending moments of sharp wit with genuine emotional depth. Despite its modest reception, "Before I Go" is a commendable character study that invites viewers to reflect on their own life's journey and the enduring possibility of finding purpose, even when it seems lost.
