Travel journalist Simon Calder embarks on a fascinating exploration of the south of England in 'Beeching's Tracks'. This documentary, presented with Calder's signature inquisitive style, delves into the enduring legacy of the 1960s Beeching railway cuts. More than just a historical retrospective, the film thoughtfully considers the contemporary arguments for reinstating some of the axed branch lines, examining their potential to reshape regional connectivity and heritage. Calder's journey, utilizing a combination of cycling, rail, and car, offers a unique perspective on the landscape and its transport history.
