BEAUTIFUL VILLAGER 29

Cinemavixion Review

Mustafa Şevki Doğan's 'Beautiful Villager 29' plunges into the life of Gul, an urbanite seeking solace from a profound depression and a fractured relationship. Escaping the relentless pace of Istanbul, she finds an unexpected refuge in the tranquil village of Muğla/Güzelköy. Here, she forms a bond with Sultan Ana, an elderly woman who believes Gul to be her grandchild. The narrative takes a turn as Gul's sisters join her, leading to a shared living arrangement with Sultan Ana. The past re-emerges with the arrival of Gul's ex-fiancé, Kaan, though Gul's affections have already shifted towards Cemal, a local villager. This film explores themes of healing, new beginnings, and the complexities of love as Gul navigates a burgeoning romance, embracing a life far removed from her city upbringing.
