BEAUTIFUL VILLAGER

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Beautiful Villager,' director Mustafa Şevki Doğan crafts a narrative centered on Gul, a young woman seeking solace in the tranquil village of Muğla after a tumultuous period in Istanbul. Haunted by a breakup with her lover, Kaan, Gul retreats to the countryside, finding an unexpected connection with Sultan Ana, who believes Gul to be her granddaughter. The plot thickens as Gul's sisters join her, and Kaan himself arrives, only to find Gul's affections have shifted to Cemal, a local villager. The film explores Gul's journey as she navigates newfound love and her transition from an urbanite to a village dweller, contrasting the fast-paced city life with the serene rhythms of rural existence. Featuring performances from Gizem Karaca, Berk Cankat, and the veteran Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan, 'Beautiful Villager' promises a tale of self-discovery and romance set against a picturesque backdrop.
