BEAUTIFUL VILLAGER 17

Cinemavixion Review

Mustafa Şevki Doğan's 'Beautiful Villager 17' plunges into the emotional landscape of Gul, a woman adrift in a profound depression. Seeking solace from the urban clamor of Istanbul and the pain of a broken relationship with Kaan, she retreats to the tranquil village of Muğla. The narrative unfolds as Gul finds an unconventional anchor in Sultan Ana, an elder who mistakes her for her grandchild. The arrival of Gul's sisters further complicates her solitary escape, creating a communal living situation under Sultan Ana's roof. Intriguingly, Kaan, Gul's former lover, also appears in the village, but Gul's heart has already found a new direction, setting her sights on Cemal. This film explores the poignant juxtaposition of an urban sensibility encountering rural life, charting a new course for love and self-discovery amidst unexpected connections.
