BATTLEDOGS

Cinemavixion Review

Alexander Yellen's "Battledogs" plunges viewers into a terrifyingly familiar post-apocalyptic scenario, echoing the visceral impact of films like "Underworld" and "District 9." Set against the backdrop of a quarantined Manhattan, the film masterfully depicts the rapid spread of a Lupine virus, transforming ordinary citizens into primal, wolf-like creatures. The narrative intensifies as Major Hoffman races against time to find a cure, a desperate mission complicated by Lt. General Monning's alarming ambition to forge a new canine army from the infected. Starring Dennis Haysbert, Craig Sheffer, and Kate Vernon, "Battledogs" delivers a grim, action-packed tale where the only perceived solution to the monstrous outbreak is a devastating nuclear strike. While the film's reception on IMDb indicates a divisive 3.6/10 rating, its premise offers a compelling, albeit bleak, exploration of societal collapse and the desperate measures taken in the face of overwhelming biological threat.
