BATHING FRANKY

Cinemavixion Review

Owen Elliott's "Bathing Franky" (2012) is a poignant and surprisingly whimsical exploration of human connection, set against the backdrop of an unconventional friendship. The film centers on Steve, a man grappling with the aftermath of his prison release and the lingering shadow of a past relationship. His life takes an unexpected turn when he accepts a 'meals-on-wheels' job, leading him to Rod and his indomitable, lawn-mower-riding mother. Elliott masterfully crafts a narrative that delves into themes of loneliness, acceptance, and the eccentricities that bind people together. The film's strength lies in its ability to find beauty and humor in the mundane, painting a vivid portrait of a world built on make-believe and genuine affection. While not a widely decorated film, "Bathing Franky" offers a unique and heartwarming cinematic experience, anchored by compelling performances and a narrative that resonates with its quiet charm. It's a delightful discovery for those seeking a film that celebrates the extraordinary in the ordinary.
