BAD KIDS OF CRESTVIEW ACADEMY

Cinemavixion Review

"Bad Kids of Crestview Academy" emerges as a cult-worthy blend of teen angst and slasher thrills, artfully mashing up the social commentary of "The Breakfast Club" with the visceral terror of "Scream." Set against the backdrop of a prestigious, yet sinister, Crestview Academy, the narrative plunges a group of students into a deadly Saturday detention. The film, directed by Ben Browder, excels in its darkly comedic tone and its willingness to embrace the absurdities of its premise. Anchored by a solid cast, including recognizable talents like Sean Astin and Gina Gershon alongside the compelling Sammi Hanratty, the film delivers a suspenseful ride. While critical reception, as indicated by its Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes scores, suggests a divisive experience, its energetic pacing and genre-bending approach offer a uniquely entertaining, albeit gruesome, cinematic outing for those who appreciate audacious indie horror-comedies.
