AXE TO GRIND

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Axe To Grind,' director Matt Zettell delivers a campy, albeit brutal, revenge flick anchored by a committed performance from Debbie Rochon. Rochon embodies Debbie, a seasoned horror actress whose career is threatened by a younger starlet. When she's unceremoniously replaced, her simmering rage boils over, leading to a bloody rampage on the film set. The film leans into its B-movie roots, offering a darkly comedic take on the perils of Hollywood and the lengths one might go to reclaim their spotlight. While the plot offers few surprises, Rochon's ferocious portrayal and the film's unapologetic gore make it a memorable, if niche, entry into the slasher subgenre. It’s a visceral exploration of ambition and vengeance, executed with a certain low-budget charm.
