AUGUST FALLS

Cinemavixion Review

In "August Falls," director Sam Hancock crafts a taut, character-driven mystery that delves into the profound complexities of grief and estranged familial relationships. Fairuza Balk delivers a compelling performance as Anna Ellison, a mother haunted by the unresolved death of her son. The film masterfully navigates Anna's descent into the enigmatic life her son led, peeling back layers of deception and confronting uncomfortable truths. While the external IMDb rating suggests a mixed reception, the narrative's exploration of guilt and the search for closure offers a poignant and unsettling experience. The supporting cast, including Charles Baker and Alanna Ubach, further grounds the emotional weight of the story, making "August Falls" a compelling, albeit somber, watch for those interested in psychological thrillers that prioritize emotional depth over conventional suspense.
