In the realm of giant monster and mech epics, "Atlantic Rim: Resurrection" emerges not with a roar, but a whimper. Directed by Jared Cohn, this 2018 offering attempts to recapture the thrill of its predecessors, pitting a new generation of pilots and their advanced mechs against colossal creatures threatening global annihilation. The plot, as is often the case in the genre, centers on the desperate fight for humanity's survival, with the fate of cities hanging precariously in the balance. While the premise promises explosive action and high stakes, the execution, unfortunately, falters.
