ATELOPHOBIA

Cinemavixion Review

Joe Lujan's 2015 independent horror film "Atelophobia" delves into the dark psyche of Meredith, a character consumed by the desperate need for acceptance. The narrative unfolds as Meredith, ostracized and relentlessly bullied by a clique of childhood friends who have since achieved conventional success and beauty, reaches a breaking point. Her subsequent descent into a twisted game of survival forces her former tormentors to confront a terrifying choice: self-destruction or embracing life with a perceived "imperfection." While the film, starring Corey Taylor, Brittany Enos, and Taylor Kilgore, garnered 4 wins and 1 nomination, its IMDb rating of 3.1 suggests a polarizing reception. "Atelophobia" offers a chilling exploration of social cruelty and the devastating consequences of unchecked ambition, albeit with a premise that leans into extreme psychological horror.
