ASTRONAUT: THE LAST PUSH

Cinemavixion Review

Eric Hayden's 2012 film, "Astronaut: The Last Push," presents a stark and solitary journey through the vastness of space. Starring Khary Payton as Michael Forrest, the narrative unfolds following a catastrophic accident that cripples the first manned mission to Jupiter's moons. The film's core conflict lies in Forrest's harrowing three-year solo voyage back to Earth, a testament to human resilience against overwhelming isolation. While the film may not boast extensive accolades, its compelling premise and the performances of its cast, including veteran actors Lance Henriksen and Brian Baumgartner, offer a thought-provoking exploration of endurance and the psychological toll of deep space travel. "Astronaut: The Last Push" is a quiet, character-driven piece that invites contemplation on the profound solitude experienced by those who venture furthest from home.
