ASTEROID

Cinemavixion Review

Cuyle Carvin's "Asteroid" presents a darkly comedic, yet poignant, exploration of familial disconnect against the backdrop of impending doom. The film centers on a man whose idyllic suburban dream is shattered by the harsh reality of an apocalypse, forcing him to confront his own detachment from his wife and daughter. Carvin, who also stars in the film, imbues the protagonist with a relatable, albeit flawed, humanity. The narrative skillfully balances moments of bleak existential dread with unexpected, often absurd, humor, making for a unique viewing experience. While the film may not boast grand spectacle, its strength lies in its intimate focus on character and the quiet desperation of ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances. "Asteroid" is a thought-provoking piece that resonates with its commentary on priorities and the human condition when the world as we know it is ending.
