ARCHEOLOGY OF COMEDY

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Archeology of Comedy,' David Beeler and Tom Konkle star in a delightful faux-documentary that playfully satirizes the style of British historical and nature programs. The premise is ingenious: imagine a sketch comedy troupe so influential, their work predates even the legendary Monty Python, shaping the very fabric of humor. Beeler, as the earnest host Richard Lagina, and Konkle, embodying the erudite Sir Doctor George Flightus, guide viewers through the supposed discoveries of the 'pre-Monty Python' group, McFwap. This absurd parody, reminiscent of History Channel and BBC documentaries, offers a clever meta-commentary on the evolution of comedy. While the film promises to unlock the ultimate mysteries of sketch comedy, its true charm lies in its witty execution and the sheer audacity of its concept. It's a must-watch for anyone who appreciates intelligent satire and the art of the absurd.
