ANIMAL ACTORS: HOW HOLLYWOOD TREATS ITS LIONS AND BEARS | PREDATOR PETS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a fascinating, if somewhat scattered, glimpse into the world of animal actors and trainers in Hollywood. We are introduced to Steve Martin, a seasoned professional who has dedicated decades to training formidable creatures like lions, bears, and jaguars for the silver screen. The film highlights the remarkable process of raising lions from cubs to adulthood, teaching them complex behaviors such as roaring and attacking on cue. A particularly striking segment features a kodiak bear, touted as a sought-after Hollywood star, even traveling globally for film appearances. The documentary also takes a detour to Australia, showcasing the Cann family's long-standing tradition of handling snakes and demonstrating antidotes, a practice dating back to the early 1900s. Finally, the journey concludes in Tasmania, introducing viewers to a descendant of the extinct Tasmanian Tiger: the Tasmanian Devil. While the diverse subjects provide intriguing content, the narrative could benefit from a more cohesive structure to fully explore the unique relationships between humans and these powerful animals in the entertainment industry.
