AND THE BEAT GOES ON: THE SONNY AND CHER STORY

Cinemavixion Review

"And the Beat Goes On: The Sonny And Cher Story" offers a compelling, albeit dramatized, look into the tumultuous personal and professional partnership of Sonny Bono and Cher. Anchored by strong performances from Jay Underwood and Renee Faia, who capture the essence of the iconic duo, the film navigates their journey from burgeoning folk-rock stars to a divorced couple. Based on Sonny Bono's autobiography, the narrative delves into the complexities of their relationship, highlighting the volatile dynamics that fueled both their meteoric rise and eventual separation. While the film may take liberties for dramatic effect, it serves as an engaging chronicle of a significant chapter in music history, earning itself nominations for 3 Primetime Emmys and ultimately winning 2. It's a worthy watch for those interested in the intersection of love, ambition, and the music industry.
