AN AGE OF LIGHT - THE ARTEFACTS THAT PROVE THE DARK AGES WEREN'T ACTUALLY SO DARK

Cinemavixion Review

Waldemar Januszczak challenges the prevailing narrative of the 'Dark Ages' in this compelling documentary series. Dispelling the myth of a post-Roman descent into barbarism, Januszczak posits that the era was, in fact, a vibrant period of artistic innovation and cultural exchange. His argument, presented across four parts, highlights how new ideas and burgeoning religions spurred significant artistic endeavors. The series takes viewers on an extensive journey through Europe, Africa, and Asia, exploring renowned collections and uncovering lesser-known artistic treasures. Januszczak's exploration aims to reframe our understanding, asserting that this so-called 'terrible time' was truly an 'Age of Light,' brimming with creative dynamism and intellectual exploration.
