AMERICAN FORK

Cinemavixion Review

Chris Bowman's "American Fork" presents a darkly comedic and surprisingly poignant portrait of Tracy Orbison, a man of considerable size and even greater ambition. Orbison, portrayed with an affecting blend of vulnerability and resilience, dreams of stardom against a backdrop of familial dysfunction and questionable friendships. His journey is fraught with obstacles, from a manipulative acting coach with ulterior motives to the entanglements of his delinquent peers and the internalized struggles of his devout mother. Despite the relentless pressures threatening to derail his aspirations, Tracy maintains an unwavering optimism, a testament to the enduring power of hope in the face of adversity. The film masterfully navigates themes of self-acceptance, the pursuit of dreams, and the complex dynamics of family, offering a unique and memorable cinematic experience.
