AMERICAN CANNIBAL

Cinemavixion Review

Perry Grebin and Michael Nigro's "American Cannibal" (2006) offers a chilling, behind-the-scenes look at the disastrous production of a reality TV show, notorious for its association with the promoter of the Paris Hilton sex tape. The documentary meticulously chronicles the "train-wreck" of a shoot and its abrupt halt in September 2005, following a critical injury to a contestant. More than just a sensational exposé, the film delves into the human cost inherent in the pursuit of popular entertainment, examining the industry that fosters such risky ventures. Despite a modest box office performance of $16,566 and a mixed critical reception, including a 5.0/10 on IMDb and a 64% on Rotten Tomatoes, "American Cannibal" stands as a stark cautionary tale about the darker side of reality television.
