ALTERNATE GROUND

Cinemavixion Review

Daniel Groom's 'Alternate Ground' delves into the unsettling aftermath of a mysterious disappearance, presenting a narrative that blurs the lines between medical anomaly and otherworldly intervention. The film centers on a teenage boy's inexplicable return and the growing unease within his family as conventional explanations fail. Michael Anthony Coppola and Demitra Papadinis deliver performances that capture the palpable tension and confusion of parents grappling with the unfathomable. While the film may not offer easy answers, its strength lies in its atmospheric build-up and its exploration of the fear that arises when the familiar becomes alien. The sci-fi element, hinted at through the boy's altered behavior, is handled with a grounded approach, making the extraordinary feel disturbingly plausible. 'Alternate Ground' is a thought-provoking piece that lingers, prompting reflection on the unknown that may lie just beyond our understanding.
