Christopher Kenneally's "Already Gone" plunges into the gritty underbelly of Coney Island with a coming-of-age drama centered on Robinson, a graffiti artist yearning for escape. Portrayed by Tyler Dean Flores, Robinson navigates a turbulent existence under the shadow of his abusive stepfather, Martin (a surprisingly cast Seann William Scott). His world is further complicated by his infatuation with Martin's girlfriend, Keesha (Justine Skye), an exotic dancer. When Robinson intervenes to save Keesha from exploitation, the pair abscond with drug money, embarking on a journey that exposes them to a world beyond their Brooklyn confines. Their flight leads them to rural Colorado, where they find unexpected refuge with Edwin (Shiloh Fernandez) and his family. However, this newfound peace is shattered as Robinson's affections for Keesha are met with her burgeoning feelings for Edwin, leaving Robinson adrift in heartbreak just as Martin closes in. While the film may grapple with familiar tropes of young love and desperate flight, its raw portrayal of Robinson's emotional landscape and the stark contrast between urban decay and rural isolation offer a compelling, albeit somber, narrative experience.
