ALL I EVER WANTED

Cinemavixion Review

Markiss McFadden's "All I Ever Wanted" (2016) presents a poignant exploration of a young man's struggle against his circumstances. The film centers on Ace, portrayed with a compelling blend of vulnerability and resilience, who navigates the treacherous landscape of drug dealing while harboring a deep-seated desire for escape and redemption. McFadden, who also stars in the film, crafts a narrative that delves into the psychological toll of a life chosen out of desperation, highlighting the haunting nature of the past and the pervasive influence of unmotivated peers. The visual metaphor of Ace's mime performances serves as a powerful counterpoint to the harsh realities he faces, symbolizing his silent yearning for a different existence. While the film may have garnered attention with two nominations, its true strength lies in its raw depiction of the fight for purpose and the enduring hope for a future beyond the confines of one's environment. "All I Ever Wanted" is a testament to the power of ambition in the face of adversity, offering a somber yet ultimately inspiring look at the human spirit's quest for a meaningful life.
