ALIEN THUNDER

Cinemavixion Review

Claude Fournier's 'Alien Thunder' plunges viewers into the stark, unforgiving landscape of Saskatchewan, recounting the true and tragic tale of Almighty Voice. Anchored by a powerful performance from Gordon Tootoosis as the Cree fugitive, the film artfully navigates themes of desperation, cultural conflict, and the brutal realities of colonial expansion. Donald Sutherland provides a compelling counterpoint, and the presence of Chief Dan George adds significant gravitas. While the film may not shy away from its somber subject matter, it offers a poignant exploration of a historical injustice, driven by solid direction and authentic performances. This is a significant piece of Canadian cinema, offering a critical look at a painful past.
