ALGO ASÍ COMO UNA HISTORIA DE AMOR

Cinemavixion Review

Gonzalo Badilla's "Algo Así Como Una Historia De Amor" (2021) delves into the complicated landscape of post-breakup relationships and the enduring, often painful, specter of first love. The film centers on Jaime, a fledgling writer whose debut novel, "Don't Fall in Love with Her," serves as a thinly veiled account of his past romance with Laura. Still harboring feelings for his ex, Jaime's hopes of reconciliation are dashed when he discovers that his childhood friend, Vega, is now Laura's boyfriend. This narrative setup promises a poignant exploration of jealousy, lingering affection, and the awkward dynamics that arise when past and present collide. Starring Martín Castillo, Javiera Díaz de Valdés, and Gabriela Fuentes, the film navigates the emotional complexities of its central characters, offering a relatable, albeit potentially melancholic, tale of love's tangled web.
