A.K. TOLSTOY'S A TASTE OF BLOOD

Cinemavixion Review

Santiago Fernández Calvete's "A Taste of Blood" plunges viewers into a chilling gothic atmosphere, drawing inspiration from Aleksey Konstantinovich Tolstoy’s chilling novella "The Family of the Vourdalak." The narrative unfolds in a fog-drenched setting where a family grapples with the terrifying possibility that their returning protector might not be who they think. As dread mounts, they face an agonizing dilemma: welcome back a loved one or defend themselves against a potential monstrous presence. The film masterfully explores themes of love, suspicion, and the blurred lines between humanity and the supernatural. The cast delivers a compelling performance, navigating the escalating tension with palpable fear and uncertainty, making for a suspenseful and thought-provoking horror experience.
