AGAINST A CROOKED SKY

Cinemavixion Review

Earl Bellamy's 1975 Western, "Against a Crooked Sky," offers a compelling narrative centered on familial duty and the harsh realities of the frontier. The film follows Sam Sutter as he embarks on a perilous quest to rescue his kidnapped sister, Charlotte. Aided by a grizzled prospector, Sam must confront not only the Apache tribe responsible but also his own inner demons and the daunting trials that lie ahead. Richard Boone and Stewart Petersen deliver strong performances, grounding the adventure with emotional weight. While the plot may tread familiar Western ground, the film's focus on Sam's unwavering determination and the stakes involved—including a potential sacrifice—provides a satisfying, if somber, viewing experience. The cinematography captures the rugged beauty of the landscape, serving as a stark backdrop to the unfolding drama.
