AFTER WE LEAVE

Cinemavixion Review

Aleem Hossain's 'After We Leave' presents a compelling, near-future vision of Earth grappling with scarcity and societal decay. Set against a backdrop of permanent recession and water rationing in Los Angeles, the film centers on Jack Chaney's desperate attempt to reunite with his estranged wife. Their shared visa for an off-world colony, a symbol of hope and a second chance, hinges on their reconciliation, adding a ticking clock to Jack's already fraught personal mission. The narrative skillfully explores themes of redemption and the possibility of genuine change, forcing Jack to confront his past actions and the man he has become. The film's gritty sci-fi aesthetic and its focus on the human drama within a dystopian setting make for an engaging and thought-provoking experience, particularly resonating with its reported 83% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
